HBO has renewed The White Lotus for a fourth season.

Announced before Season 3 premiered. Bloys said Mike White pitched the idea while HBO visited the Season 3 set in Thailand.

Season 4 is set in France.

Deadline first reported in September 2025 that France was being eyed. Bloys made it official in November: “It’s going to be in France.”

Season 4 follows new guests and employees over one week, during the Cannes Film Festival.

Season 4 has two White Lotus hotels: White Lotus du Cap (Airelles Château de la Messardière) and White Lotus Cannes (Hôtel Martinez).

The Château de la Messardière is in Saint-Tropez; the Hôtel Martinez is on the Croisette in Cannes.

Season 4 began filming in April 2026, in Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco and Paris.

The story stays on the Côte d’Azur. Created, written and directed by Mike White; executive producers White, David Bernad and Mark Kamine.

Season 4 premieres in the first half of 2027.

Bloys, asked after the Emmys: “First half of ’27.” A window, not a date — no premiere date has been announced.

Helena Bonham Carter has left Season 4 shortly after filming began; HBO says her character has been rethought and will be recast.

HBO said the character Mike White created for her “did not align” once on set. Reports put her exit at nine days to just over a week into filming.

Laura Dern has joined the cast of Season 4.

Ben Kingsley, Max Minghella and Pekka Strang have joined the cast of Season 4.

Billed as the final additions to the Season 4 cast.

Survivor 50 contestants Charlie Davis and Kamilla Karthigesu will appear in Season 4.

White, who played Survivor 50 himself and was voted out fourth: “there are gonna be two contestants that we’re flying out to be in the show”. Their roles are not known.

Composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer will not return for Season 4.

He cited creative clashes with Mike White. His Season 3 theme still won the Creative Arts Emmy in September 2025. No Season 4 composer has been named.

Mike White says Season 4 is “a bit about fame, about who has the world’s attention, who is the plus-one”.

The full line ends: “…and how that can organize a relationship.”

Leo Woodall has said he would “seriously consider” returning as Jack if Mike White called.

Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka are in the cast of Season 4.

The Season 4 shoot was expected to last about seven months.

Main filming in Cannes started after the festival and was to last about 50 days, then interiors in Paris over the summer. No wrap has been announced.

Season 4 has a budget of around $120 million.

Four Seasons is not involved in Season 4 — a first for the series.

Seasons 1–3 were filmed at Four Seasons resorts. The Season 4 hotels belong to Airelles and Hyatt.

Season 4 was set to film interiors at the Hôtel Lutetia in Paris in June 2026.

The story stays on the Riviera; Paris stands in for interiors.

Season 4 follows two rival film teams with movies in competition at Cannes — one on the Croisette, one in a hilltop hideaway.

Variety: “One camps out at a flashy, palatial hotel on the Croisette, while the other is ensconced in a luxurious hilltop hideaway.” Not announced by HBO.

The part originally written for Helena Bonham Carter was a washed-out star chasing a comeback.

At least one familiar face from earlier seasons returns in Season 4.

Asked about returning characters, Bloys said: “There were a few nice surprises.” A tease, not a confirmation — and no names.

Tobias Santelmann is in the cast of Season 4.

Reported by TheWrap with five other actors — but he is not on HBO’s own April cast list. Until HBO names him, it stays Solid.

Season 4 crew filmed at the real 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

Chris Messina, Marissa Long and Laura Dern were seen on the red carpet, playing the cast of a film at its premiere. Variety had reported a small crew would capture colour during the festival.

Laura Dern’s Season 4 part was written specifically for her after Helena Bonham Carter’s exit.

TheWrap says Dern is “taking over the role” and that “the new role is being developed and written specifically for Dern”. Variety reports she plays a different character White was developing. Same slot or new character? HBO has not said.

Season 4 will premiere in May 2027.

A guess. The only official word is “first half of 2027” (#006). Airing by 31 May 2027 would keep it inside the 2027 Emmy window.

Season 4 will be an “all-star” season built around returning characters.
